Week 34- Paper Hearts Mend Broken Ones

Helllllooooo!

Tiffany Park has just been keeping us on our toes this transfer...so many things happening!

Ok I have good news and bad news, but I'll deliver the bad news first.

Bad news: We had a lesson with Casey this past week and found out he is struggling with a smoking addiction. Totally did NOT see that coming. Apparently, we didn't establish the "no smoking before baptism" rule when we taught the Word of Wisdom. So now his baptism is being moved to March 23rd, which is actually a good thing. I think Chris feels better about it and it will give them more time to get comfortable in their own ward before he is baptized. I'm just thankful he was honest with us.

Good news: Casey and Chris finally made it to our ward and guess what? They LOVED it! They already knew a few people just from the many times we brought members to their lessons, but they found even more people they knew! Another young mom in the ward went to high school with Chris and the husband knows Casey from work. What a small world! The ward did such a good job in welcoming them in and they don't plan on going back to the Tiger Mountain ward anytime soon. Also the Allen family came and Evan too! I love having friends at church! Definitely helps the ward get excited about missionary work too.

The Allen girls are preparing for their baptism on March 2nd. They are so excited and bring it up every time we see them. They always want us over...but maybe that's because we bring candy every time. 😊 The parents are getting excited too. They are inviting their whole family and we are all going over for lunch after the baptism to eat some yummy traditional Samoan food! So excited! I think the parents' hearts are softening. The dad actually drove himself to church yesterday. We are trying to work with Sister Allen's ministering sisters to give her some fellowship. One day she'll hopefully feel comfortable coming to church with the rest of her family.

We took advantage of this Valentine's Day to share some of God's love with our people. We cut out paper hearts and wrote scripture references on them about the love of our Heavenly Father. We also wrote little messages and baked brownies for each of our friends and struggling members. We taped the hearts all over their doors. It was a lot of fun. We tried to be anonymous, but of course they figured out it was us because of the scripture references. Our little service made them super happy though! We also got to serve food to the homeless at the Salvation Army food bank. We invited our friend Greta and her kids to come with us. We had a lot of fun and we got to talk to so many cool people.

The snow is starting to finally melt and it's warming up here. Still do get the occasional black ice in the parking lots and may slip and die, but it's all good. We are careful...most of the time.

Well that's a wrap on week one of transfer #6! Have a great week everybody! Love you all!
